Privacy Policy
This policy covers the Trit app for iPhone ("Trit") and the website tritgit.app. "We" means the publisher of Trit. Trit has no account system, no analytics, no advertising and no server of its own.
What we collect
Nothing through the app. Trit contains no analytics, tracking or advertising code, and we cannot see your repositories, files, tokens, keys or settings. We receive only what you send us yourself (see Email, files and clipboard) and crash reports Apple shares if you allow it (see Diagnostics and crash reports).
Data on your iPhone
- Repositories live in Trit's own storage, protected by iOS Data Protection and excluded from iCloud and device backups. Push your work to a remote if you need another copy.
- Account and key details (names, hosts, fingerprints, accepted SSH host keys) are stored in the same excluded storage. Tokens and private keys are not stored there.
- Preferences, including the commit name and email you set and a repository's hosting provider and server address, are app preferences that iOS may include in your backups.
Tokens and SSH keys
- Personal access tokens are stored in the iOS Keychain, readable only while your iPhone is unlocked, and stay on this device without syncing to others.
- SSH private keys and their saved passphrases are stored in the Keychain under the same rule. Using a key needs your device passcode, or Face ID if you turn it on. Saving a key requires a device passcode.
- Only public keys and fingerprints can be copied or shared; private keys and passphrases cannot be exported.
- Removing an account deletes its token from this iPhone. Revoke the token with GitHub or GitLab as well.
Network connections
Trit connects only when you act, and only to servers you configure: Git remotes over HTTPS or SSH, and the hosting services you add (GitHub, GitLab, or your own GitHub Enterprise or GitLab Self-Managed server). It sends what the action needs, such as the commits you push, the comments and reviews you write, and your token for authentication. Trit makes no background connections and none to us. It does not follow redirects, requires valid TLS certificates and asks you to confirm an SSH server's fingerprint on first connection. Providers handle your data under their own policies, for example the GitHub General Privacy Statement and the GitLab Privacy Statement.
Diagnostics and crash reports
Trit logs operation names, durations and error types to the on-device system log, never contents, paths, URLs or secrets, and sends nothing. If you turn on "Share With App Developers" in iOS Settings, Apple may share crash reports with us under the Apple Privacy Policy.
Email, files and clipboard
- If you email report@tritgit.app, we use your address and message only to reply and fix the problem. Do not send tokens, private keys or passphrases.
- Files you open in Trit from other apps are saved to the repository you choose; the temporary copy is deleted.
- Trit reads the clipboard only when you tap a paste action and copies only non-secret values.
This website
tritgit.app sets no cookies and loads no analytics or third-party scripts. Our host, Cloudflare, processes request data such as IP addresses to deliver and protect the site, under the Cloudflare Privacy Policy.
Deleting your data
Delete a repository, account or SSH key in Trit to remove it from your iPhone. Deleting the app removes its storage; if you reinstall, Trit deletes any Keychain items left from before on first launch.
Children
Trit is a developer tool not directed at children, and we collect no information from anyone.
Changes
We will update this page and its effective date before any change takes effect.
